We are the Boone Retired Teachers Association (BRTA), a group of retired teachers who have worked or live in Boone County.

PURPOSE: Our purpose is to maintain and improve benefits to annuitants of TRS (Teacher Retirement System), promote educations and the professional , social and economic status of all members, and to work in cooperation with other organizations to gain these goals.
MEETINGS: We meet six times a calendar year on the third Thursday of these six months in area church meeting rooms. These meetings include a meal, a business meeting, and a program. We meet April -- Noon Luncheon May -- 10:00 am Brunch June -- 5:30 pm Dinner September -- 5:30 pm Dinner October -- Noon Luncheon November -- 10:00 am Brunch MEMBERSHIP: Membership is open to any school district employee who currently lives in Boone County or has ever taught or worked in Boone County Schools. DUES: Membership dues are $7.00 per calendar year. Lifetime memberships are available for a one-time payment of $100.00. Membership dues (check payable to BRTA) should be sent to the BRTA Treasurer, Mark Luthin, 2159 Crestway Ct., Belvidere, IL 61008. AFFILIATION: BRTA is affiliated with the Illinois Retired Teachers Association (IRTA) and BRTA members are strongly urged to become members of IRTA as it works to protect our TRS pension. KEEPING IN TOUCH: In addition to this website, BRTA publishes a newsletter (BRTA News) six times a year prior to each of the meetings. |
